Angels Share Inc.
A nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing homelessness by creating pathways to employment and housing.
We are committed to reducing homelessness and housing insecurity by combining long-term community development with immediate access to essential services. Through initiatives like Blair Campus/Transformation Hill and Project Homeless Connect Omaha, we repurpose underutilized spaces to create stable housing, foster workforce development, and deliver wraparound support, empowering vulnerable individuals, including youth aging out of foster care, to build independent, sustainable lives.
Former Dana College
Transforming a 151 acre, 17 building, 500,000 sf former college campus into a thriving community in Blair, NE
Angels Share revitalized the once-abandoned campus by converting dormitories into apartments, repurposing existing buildings, and selling excess land to reinvest in the community. In doing so, they created housing for both young adults and seniors, while simultaneously building a new local workforce from an underserved population, offering both opportunity and hope where few had looked before.
The Blair Campus/Transformation Hill redevelopment effort repurposed a vacant college campus located on the former Dana College. The 151-acre property remained vacant and deteriorating for a decade. It included 17 buildings and over 500,000 square feet of space.
The campus now serves as a model for holistic support, offering residents opportunities to gain financial independence, workforce skills, and lifelong mentoring, while addressing the root causes of homelessness among former foster youth.
Project Homeless Connect Omaha
An annual day of support for the homeless
Project Homeless Connect Omaha united community partners and volunteers to provide individuals experiencing homelessness with immediate access to critical services, healthcare, housing, legal aid, and more, in a single-day, one-stop event focused on dignity, hope, and connection.
Throughout its tenure, Project Homeless Connect Omaha served over 5,000 homeless individuals, connecting them with vital services and resources. The event not only provided immediate assistance but also helped raise awareness about homelessness and the importance of community support in addressing this issue. And it helped launch similar events in many other cities across the country.
It continues to inspire similar initiatives aimed at supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. The model of bringing together diverse service providers and volunteers to offer comprehensive support remains a valuable approach in the ongoing efforts to combat homelessness.
